Then I attack Athens/Macedon with Heraclaidae in Larissa and Ares Dread on Athens. Then ignored everyone and sailed south, attacked Crete, then Rhodes, then finally by the time I get back, I have citizen cavalry ready to be recruited. Athens doesn't seem to build cavalry I found.Īlso, for me, I advanced north into Epirus first, rushed them so to speak, spent the first turn training 1 phalangite/pike unit and 2 slingers, attacked straight away with Ares' Dread. Keep them from firing at you otherwise your hoplites will be all dead. ![]() Charge one missile troop, and don't even wait for them to die, charge the next one, and the next one. Citizen cavalry is enough, wait until the enemy is committed then swing them around the enemy - 2 units is enough but you have to keep moving. ![]() And from your description, you're fighting an open field battle correct? I actually fought a similar battle on my Sparta campaign against Athens though there was no epirus, just Athens attacking me from 3 sides with their army/navy. What is Epirus doing defending Athens? Then again I always crush Epirus first.Īnyways Spartan infantry are unmatched, but will and can be killed very quickly by mass volleys of slinger/javelin/archer fire.
